Strategic support to senior leadership teams is a high value professional service I have provided to several public sector enterprises.

In an RAN Reserve context, in 2009 I supported ADF Headquarters in developing a proposed Defence youth employment scheme, with linkages to other government departments.

In 2010-2011, I was part of a two-person team formed to assess and recommend improvements to the Royal Australian Navy’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and safety management systems.  We then assisted Chief of Navy and his senior management team in developing and implementing a much improved ERM system, which also gave impetus to much needed improvements in Navy governance, seaworthiness and safety management.

Since 2010, I have been a Technical Member of the Royal Australian Navy Seaworthiness Board, providing advice to the Defence Seaworthiness Authority (Chief of Navy) on the seaworthiness of ships, platforms and mission systems, and the efficacy of management systems intended to ensure seaworthiness outcomes of safety, operational effectiveness and environmental protection.  I am continuing to support Chief of Navy in that independent role.

In an Industry context, I have supported the Defence Materiel Organisation as an independent facilitator and strategic consultant, in developing improvements to Defence Industry networks and supporting IT portals.

I have supported Defence Strategy and Intelligence Group in leading and facilitating several rounds of defence strategic policy workshops, providing strategic and enterprise risk assessments and other inputs to Defence strategic policy.  This has involved working with Defence industry, think tanks, educational institutions, state and territory governments and senior Defence management.  This has required careful handling of sensitive and strategic information, plus informed and disciplined approaches to accurately capturing the Defence risk environment.

I have also provided support to strategic leadership development programs, with an emphasis on development of younger leaders.  I am an accomplished mentor and strategic advisor.

My qualifications include Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies, Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors Program, Australian Graduate School of Engineering Innovation in Risk Management, Ship Safety and Safety Management Systems, Project Management and Program Management, plus numerous RAN professional courses and qualifications.  LinkedIn has more data at http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=4919706
